So I've given her a makeover.
Before the layout did it's job but I've spent the last few weeks creating something to give her a new look. Mainly just for practice and creating something to which I can now upload posts and other content to without having to code them in. Which has good implications if any y'all want a website. Any feedback is welcomed, things you like, things you don't or any suggestions. It's all good. Screenshots from different devices would be handy.
Thank you to Mike for the help, the families pre-live screenshots and to the real MVP Nana for checking its functionality and signing off on it.
I've had to go through all the posts which has been both nostalgic and long. I particularly liked the ones at the beginning, more frequent and lil' snippets, so I'll try get back to that.
It's definitely calmed down a bit here now. Saturday nights have been spent in. My drinking has been a lot less and I am more than caught up on the soap (Shit is going down in Serro Azul, I tell ya that). It's been lovely. The whole town seems to have calmed down including the weather which is a blissful temperature. Still hot enough to go to the beach but not so hot that you have to jump from shade to shade to get there.
Everything since carnaval has seemed to be going beautifully. My Portugues is reaching new levels and overall I just feel more comfortable and confident. Unfortunately for y'all that contentness has been matched with not doing much out of just happiness doing nothing.
I always think back to my psychology lectures, about the rats who had a button to access to a dopamine button and they just continued to press it because it felt good and they did fuck all. They loved it so much they chose it over food and sex and had to be unhooked to save themselves. I'll try not to do that. Upon research I found a pretty sketchyarticle that builds on this in trying to correct a homosexual mans orientation. Wow, I forgot how many sketchy studies have occurred in the name of Psychology.
For me its less pleasure fixes at the moment and more serotonin and a more mellow feeling. I let myself feel the pleasure though on Friday with Beer, Dominos and Netflix but by the end of the evening I ended up feeling pretty shitty. After a very frustrating battle with my stream, only to watch the Warriors get robbed in ridiculous fashion, I went to bed livid. This continued onto the next day at the beach, where Sheffield Utd conceded two late goals to lose me £80 and I continued to drink and buy anything off the sellers which passed me by to alleviate this frustration.
I eventually left earlier than first intended after an agreement with Mark to a dry April and returned home to finish my beers in the fridge to remove any temptation and begin anew the next day.
After a long sleep and nothing to do on Sunday, the two days could not have been more contrasted and I was happy as Larry, listening to chill hip hop whilst I shaved, cleaned and danced (not at the same time) all after sipping on a coffee watching the imitation game, without the subtitles.
I love having nothing planned. It's so freeing. It doesn't necessarily mean I'll do anything but I can, at any moment, depending on how I feel. When I was asked to help my friend move apartments I was delighted to oblige and it became a great afternoon with him treating me to lunch out.
I have nothing really planned for April. I've really settled and will spend the next month not drinking, Working all afternoon and learning more web development while just being happy hanging out in the house. Just living.
All preparing for April 14th which marks the beginning of both the NBA playoffs and the final installment of Game of Thrones.
Life looks to be pretty good right now.
Many nights I find myself in low lighting with a basketball game on the TV, my google playing, munching on Baconzitos. Bliss. Tuesday night, the Warriors were already in playoff mode destroying the Denver Nuggets and I watched the whole thing whilst listening to a playlist based on the song below.
Everything was, and still is, perfect.
